Dynamo Kyiv team news
Last five matches Dynamo didn’t lose, but they only won two games. They aren’t haveing best of results, and their game is somewhat stagnating. If there weren’t for Junior Moraes results would be much worse, because this forward scored six goals this season. This is the game that could be a turning point for the whole season of Ukrainian biggest club. They just have to win, if they think to establish themselves as a competitor for one of the first two places in the group. Already they lost against Napoli at home, but they managed to bring back one point from Istanbul, where they have played 1:1 against Besiktas. The game against Benfica could catapult them in a good direction. But they would have to be ferocious against Portuguese titan. It would be no science to tell you that every line in Dynamo team has to give their best to win, probably defensive minded opponent who is going to try to play with high percentage of ball possession and will try to create some long shots chances or push as many as they can trough ball in the box.
Domagoj Vida will have a great challenge ahead of him. Kostas Mitroglu, one of the European most effective scorer will be his opponent and Croatian defender is going to be Dynamo’s strongest defensive link. Much of the outcome depends on from this duel. Yarmolenko and Moraes are key players upfield. Every attack is starting or ending with one of those two players.
Dynamo has to take the ball from Benfica’s midfielder and prevent the Portuguese club to dictate the tempo of the game. On the other hand, the home team has to keep pushing toward goal trough the middle, because if Benfica defensive midfielders are crushed, way to the victory is open. Constant pressure on the midfield and flank protection is must do for Dynamo.

The same position as their opponents, Benfica has to play smart tonight. They are in a position where losing tonight’s match puts them at the bottom of the group. And that is something that two-times Europian champions isn’t supposed to be.
Unpleasant surprise at their home ground against Besiktas, when they conceded last minute goal, made pretty big damage for them. Then Napoli crushed them in Naples 4-2, and now they must not lose.
But the hard task is in front of them. Motivated and life-struggling home team, cold weather, and a long trip to Kyiv. But as we often say “This is Champions League, no excuses allowed !”
Benfica is in good shape, they are playing ok in the domestic championship, and it seems that their form is heading for better. Pizzi and Mitroglu are playing well, and they have formed dangerous attacking duo. Greek striker is scoring, while Pizzi is bot scoring and assisting. These two guys will be the main weapon in Benfica’s game. Fejsa and Horta in the middle will try to form a block which is going to disable Dynamo play from its beginning. Both of them are strong, they run a lot during the game and they often come to the opposite midfield and stop actions by fouling their opponents.
The defensive line is in shape as they have allowed just one goal in three last matches in Portuguese Liga.
Possession of the ball. The main thing that Benfica needs to do. They have to have the ball in their own feet and by slowing down game tempo, to try and create some chance from their individual quality. Benfica is a team which has enormous individual quality, but they are not showing this at a time.

Twice in history, Benfica and Dynamo matched up. Both with one victory, but Benfica eliminated Dynamo winning 5-0 in Lisboa, after losing 1-0 in Ukraine. This was in European Champions Cup in ’92. After that, they haven’t met.
This match will be interesting to watch, by our opinion it will be cautious, but if someone scores early there will be a lot of goals because any tactical play will be worthless in that situation. Plenty of long shots, individual actions, set pieces, and interesting duels all this will be seen in this match. We advise you not to miss this duel.
Over 2,5 is a good bet, and we think that is very realistic, but considering winner, we are not so sure. This is a close one, and we do not want to predict anything. We leave that to you.
