Arsenal 2-2 PSG game review

We saw an interesting match at Etihad Stadium, and we might say that this result is the fairest for both sides. High tempo, many actions tough game but within the boundaries of fair play. Neither of the two managers has been calculating. They could send a reserve team but instead, they decided to bring out their strongest squads. This game had no result significance because both Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain had already qualified for the next phase of Champions League. Paris Saint-Germain came to London in search of victory and they have played offensively from the start of the game. Arsenal didn’t have any response at the beginning but eventually they have found the way to restore the balance on the pitch.
Immediately after the start, Paris Saint-German took the control of the game and they had their first chance in 15th minutes. Edinson Cavani took the header inside the box, but one of the players from Arsenal block that shot. Just three minutes later visitors took the lead. Thiago Motta sent a low through ball inside the box where Blaise Matuidi ran into the empty space, centering the ball low to the far post, where Cavani was sliding, sending the ball into the empty net.
After this goal, Arsenal began playing much more aggressively and they started slowly imposing their own style. The game developed and teams were playing much quicker than at the beginning. Seconds before the end of the first half, Grzegorz Krychowiak made a foul on Alexis Sanchez who ran into the right side of the box and try to deceive PSG defender who was sliding. The Arsenal striker went down like he had been shot, but really he was barely touched. Felix Brych immediately blew the whistle and showed the penalty spot. Olivie Giroud took the penalty kick and confidently scored after shooting the ball into the left bottom corner of Areola’s goal.

As soon as the guests took the kick off first half was finished.
The second half started more cautiously for the both team. They have been playing much more slowly and without any risk. In the 54th minute, Lucas Moura shook the crossbar after the free kick he took from some 25 meters from the goal.
Just five minutes later attack for the Arsenal from the right side. The ball goes into the box to Aaron Ramsey who fired the shot, but one defender blocks and the ball deflects to Marco Verratti from which it goes straight to the net. Verratti was devastated. Pretty unfortunate turn of events for the Italian player.
Now Arsenal had an advantage but the French team decided to try to come back into the game. After the corner in the 77th minute, Lucas Moura was waiting for the ball on the far post. He took the header to the goal ,and the ball touched Alex Iwoby, who was in front of the goal, and we saw, yet another own goal in this match.

Arsene Wenger replaced three of the starting players, substituting them with fresh blood from the bench but nothing has changed in the Arsenal style of play. It was the visitors who had the last chance. Lucas Moura center the ball into the box, Cavani was quicker than his guards and he headed the ball near the left post.
Felix Brych added four minutes of injury time, but nothing interesting happened until the end of the match.
Managers were satisfied with these results. These two clubs are qualified for the next round and there is no need for some kind of regrets after this match. This game proves to be worthy of Champions League. It was interesting seeing two own goals in the same match, and also many good chances. We saw Edinson Cavani who is in great shape, Olivier Giroud who is coming back into the great shape. These two teams will definitely play a major role in this year’s Champions League. Paris Sain-Germain will host Ludogorets in the last leg of the group stage while Arsenal will travel to Basel.
